About Rinku
Hey! My name is Rinku Skaria, and I am an MD/PhD student at the University of Arizona. I earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Physiology and Business Management and received the Outstanding Senior Freeman medal for the UA and the Eller College of Management. During my undergraduate years, I was heavily involved in extracurricular activities and was the national Board of Trustees member and national Vice President for Membership of the American Medical Student Association. After graduation, I started medical school and completed three years prior to starting my PhD in Physiological Sciences with a focus in cardiovascular research. Following my training, I hope to become a surgeon-scientist with a productive lab and a robust practice.
Over the years, I have greatly enjoyed mentoring and tutoring middle school, high school, and undergraduate students in various subjects including math and science. I have learned each student has a unique way of learning, and I change my teaching style according to his/her needs. Whether it is presenting visual representations or providing examples, I strongly believe formulating and integrating concepts with teach-back methods foster a deeper understanding, stimulate a passion for learning, and build a collaborative learning environment.
In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, baking, experimenting new recipes with friends, and catching up on Netflix. I am really excited to be involved with TutorYard and hope to meet you soon!
